Dave Alpern is in his 16th year at Joe Gibbs Racing, currently serving as the team’s vice president of marketing. Dave began his career with Joe Gibbs Racing upon graduating from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va, as a project intern, and has seen the team grow from 18 employees to over 400. Dave currently oversees all aspects of marketing for the team, including consumer products, branding and the internet, and assists in all driver contract negotiations. He is one of the longest tenured marketing executives in the sport, and has worked with marketing counterparts and CEOs of many of the country’s largest companies such as Home Depot, Fedex, Mars, Coca Cola and Interstate Batteries.
Dave was born in Frankfurt, Germany, the son of a high ranking CIA official, and after returning to the states at age 2, grew up just outside the nation’s capital in Northern Virginia. Dave attended George Mason University.
Dave and his wife Stacey, his college sweetheart, have 3 sons, 12 year old twins Evan and Austin, and 9 year old Collin. His interests include snow skiing and snowboarding, riding 4 wheelers with his sons, playing flag football, baseball, running, and losing golf balls. He is also an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and Boston Red Sox.
