NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Mark Martin calls Joey Logano “the real deal”. In fact, Mark says at his young age, Joey already has more talent than some of the drivers he regularly competes against in NASCAR. That should not come as a surprise since Joey already has more than eleven years of driving experience under his belt.

The 17-year-old Middletown, Conn. native has been racing since the age of six, competing in quarter midgets and working his way up to the NASCAR Nationwide Series, where he will compete this season after his 18th birthday.

At the age of seven, Joey picked up his first Eastern Grand National Championship in Jr. Stock Quarter Midgets. He then followed up with his first Eastern Grand National Championship in Jr. Stock Quarter Midgets. He went on to earn two Eastern Grand National Championships in 1998 and 1999 in the Stock and Mod divisions. Soon after, at age 9, Joey raced Bandoleras, winning the Summer Shootouts at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lowe's Motor Speedway, and ultimately ending with another National Championship.

He then moved on to Legends Cars, setting a track record of 14 consecutive wins at Atlanta Motor Speedway, along with winning the Young Lions National Championship. Joey won the Pro National Championship at the age of 12, making him the youngest in Legends history. At age 13, Joey competed in GA Late Models and the Southern All Stars, winning many events. In 2004, Joey participated in the ASA National Touring Series and the ASA Late Model Series.

The following year, in 2005, Joey signed a development deal with Joe Gibbs Racing and made his debut in the Hooters Pro Cup Series. His first race came just days after turning 15, making him the youngest competitor in the series. Less than a month later on June 11, 2005, Joey scored his first USAR Pro Cup Series win of the season at the Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in Mansfield, OH. He finished the season with six top five finishes and one win. The next season, Joey competed in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Southern Series. He raced the entire 2006 Southern Division schedule including the Championship Series and a few Northern division races. He had another successful year, ending the season with two wins.

The 2007 season held even more success for Joey. Competing in the #20 Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil Chevrolet, he won the NASCAR Busch East Series championship, Rookie of the Year honors and seven races during the season. In addition to his on-track performance, he was featured in the July 2nd issue of Sports Illustrated in the article “Where Will They Be?” as one of the 13 young sports stars on the rise. We expect to see great things from Joey in the coming years as he moves into the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2008.
