Joe Gibbs Racing delivered three strong cars to Chicago for today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. After all three teams ran inside the top ten for the majority of the race, it was Kyle Busch leading JGR’s efforts at the end with a fourth-place finish, while Joey Logano crossed the line in seventh. Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin, who entered the day as the point leader in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship, ran well all day and appeared certain for a top-five finish, but ran out of fuel on the final lap and fell from seventh to 16th at the finish.

For much of the night it appeared Joe Gibbs Racing would continue its recent winning ways, but late pit strategy under a caution for rain would shuffle the field and leave the team with a disappointing finish in tonight’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

Hamlin wins at Bristol!

It was an impressive night for Joe Gibbs Racing with Denny Hamlin capturing his third win of the season and all three teams starting and finishing in the top ten for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Denny Hamlin led the way with his first career victory at the half-mile track, while Kyle Busch battled to an impressive sixth-place finish and Joey Logano led the most laps before coming home in eighth.
