Rain played a major factor in today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pennsylvania 400 at Pocono Raceway with heavy downpours delaying the start and then another round of storms bringing the day to early conclusion.
Through the opening laps it appeared it might be a great day for Joe Gibbs Racing with all three cars showing speed early on, but unfortunately the good fortune would not last and when NASCAR called the race after just 98 of the scheduled 160 laps it would be Joey Logano leading the team with a 13th-place finish, while an accident just before the last round of rain left Denny Hamlin back in 29th and an early part failure resulted in a 33rd-place finish for Kyle Busch. All three Joe Gibbs Racing entries started in the top ten for today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and for much of the day it appeared all three would finish in the top ten as well.
When it was over Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin were able to remain in the top ten and earn second and sixth-place finishes respectively, while a late race accident would leave Joey Logano to finish a disappointing 33rd, despite running the majority of the race just outside the top five. Read more
What will it take for you to get your first win at Indianapolis?
“I think we’ve shown at Indy that we have what it takes to win there and the team really builds great cars for this track. It’s a track where JGR cars have won before and a track that I really like from the driver’s seat so we go there feeling like we can unload fast, get better in practice and compete on Sunday. To win here you need the car, the driver and the crew all at their best, and then have a lot of things go your way. We have had our share of issues at Indy, but if you take those away there is no reason we can’t run up front.” Read more
