Indianapolis Recap

All three Joe Gibbs Racing entries started in the top ten for today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and for much of the day it appeared all three would finish in the top ten as well.

When it was over Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin were able to remain in the top ten and earn second and sixth-place finishes respectively, while a late race accident would leave Joey Logano to finish a disappointing 33rd, despite running the majority of the race just outside the top five.

Denny Hamlin Quotes

What will it take for you to get your first win at Indianapolis?
“I think we’ve shown at Indy that we have what it takes to win there and the team really builds great cars for this track. It’s a track where JGR cars have won before and a track that I really like from the driver’s seat so we go there feeling like we can unload fast, get better in practice and compete on Sunday. To win here you need the car, the driver and the crew all at their best, and then have a lot of things go your way. New Hampshire Quotes and Notes

Denny Hamlin Quotes

We seem to run a little better here in the summer than we do in the fall so we’ll be trying to run as well as we have here in past summers but also take something with us to learn from. This track is faster than you would think so you need horsepower to take advantage of the long straights, but getting through, and off, the corner is where you win or lose at New Hampshire. It’s definitely a little bit different than any other track we go to because it almost seems like it’s banked in the other direction on the bottom. But you can go way up high or run on the bottom so there are some options for you to find a fast line.”
