How do you think the Kansas Speedway repave is going to affect the race on Sunday?

“As we have seen with all the repaved race tracks, the grip level and speeds are way up and there isn’t much tire wear. Luckily we’ll be out there to test a couple days to lay some rubber on the track, and hopefully a couple grooves will develop that we can use in the race. It’ll take a little bit to get used to the new surface, but I’m confident that Darian (Grubb) and the guys will prepare a fast FedEx Camry this weekend. We’re still in the thick of the Chase with five races to go, and we have some good tracks coming up for us.”

Charlotte Recap

It was a strong night for Joe Gibbs Racing with all three teams earning a top-ten finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bank of America 500 from Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Denny Hamlin would lead the way with a strong second-place finish, while Kyle Busch earned fifth and Joey Logano crossed the finish line in ninth.

Heading towards the halfway point of the Chase, where do you put the FedEx team’s chances?

“I think our FedEx team is in pretty good shape. Obviously, we gave a few points away at Chicago and Dover, but we’re still in striking distance. We were able to avoid trouble at Talladega and get a decent finish, and I think we have a good shot of competing for the win almost everywhere we go from here on out. We have wins at five of the last six tracks, and finished second at Charlotte earlier this year. Hopefully we can do one spot better than that Saturday night.”

Talladega Review

When it comes to racing the 2.66 mile Superspeedway of Talladega it often comes down to a matter of simple survival.

A huge crash at the end of today’s race would prove that true once again as 25 cars would get involved. When it was all sorted out Kyle Busch would lead Joe Gibbs Racing with a third-place finish, while Denny Hamlin was scored 14th, and damage from an early race accident would knock Joey Logano off the lead lap and ultimately result in a 32nd-place finish.
