Marc Davis - Making noise in Late Model

While all racing eyes and ears were focused on Thunder Valley at Bristol Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Marc Davis was making noise in Greenville, SC. In a strong 16 car field Davis drove to an impressive 3rd place finish from the 3rd fastest qualifying position. Crew chief Scott Kilbury said " we want to prepare Marc for the late model post season so coming to Greenville-Pickens Speedway was a perfect choice". A perfect choice and a perfect place to unveil Rockwell Automation as primary sponsor for this late model contest. Rockwell Automation Dodge Brand is located in Greenville, SC. Sporting a new black paint scheme Davis was ready for his fourth late model event and third top 10. In academia it's the number of letters after your name that help you stand out. In racing it's the number of sponsors in front of your name that matter. So here goes. The Rockwell Automation Dodge Brand Levi Strauss Signature Coca Cola Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS made its debut at the historic Greenville-Pickens Speedway.

With the top 5 inversion Davis started 4th and held the position until a lap 15 wreck took out the two leaders battling for first. Davis maintained the second spot behind track points leader Randy Porter until lap 31 of the 40 lap race. Greenville-Pickens points runner up and last years winner David Roberts passed Davis to the inside with 9 to go. "The local guys have some very fast cars and they run a perfect line. Scott (crew chief Scott Kilbury) gave me a good car but the tires went away fast. We race a different tire at Hickory but I want to come here again" remarked Davis.
