“As we enter the final stretch of the season, we are at a pivotal point. With four of the last six races in the Chase being mile-and-a-half tracks, it is crucial that we get as much as we can out of both cars. In the spring, both my Cup car and Busch car were really good here. We finished top-ten in the Cup car and were running in the top five in the Busch car until a battery problem slowed our progress. I think we are going to see a great race this weekend. With the weather being a little cooler, we should have some extra grip and some great horsepower. Harvick has pretty much sealed the Busch points race, but it is wide open for the runner up spot. Our goal for the next five races is to gain as many points as we can and earn that runner up spot.

Being at Charlotte for the week is nice. It is almost like an off weekend because I get to sleep in my own bed each night. Plus with the weekend’s events being night races, I get to sleep in until noon and that makes me happy. The Busch Team was off last weekend and they are off next weekend so I am not sure how their wives’ are handling them being home for that much time during the season. They deserve the break because our summer schedule was brutal. I am hoping they return this weekend refreshed and ready to impress the home crowd.

“Our off weekend could not have come at a better time. Coming off our two worse finishes in row, we were ready for a break. But we are really excited about the Rockwell Automation Chevrolet that we are bringing this weekend. The Fab guys have been working hard on a new body and we saw a lot of speed with the setup we used at Kansas. Nothing cures a couple of rough weeks like leading a bunch of laps and big trophy. We are capable of that this weekend.”
