Race Review

Kansas City, Kansas (September 30, 2006) – After qualifying a disappointing 33rd for Saturday’s NASCR Busch Series race at Kansas, Vigoro / Home Depot crew chief Jason Ratcliff quickly reminded driver J.J. Yeley and the rest of the crew of their performance last year at Kansas. Yeley qualified 41st at Kansas in 2005, but rallied during the race to finish 10th.

Yeley nearly duplicated that feat on Saturday, reaching the top five at the midpoint of the race, but settling for a respectable 11th-place finish. “It is pretty ironic how the two races mirror each other,” said Yeley in reference to his last two trips to Kansas. “We had a rocket at the beginning of the race, and we got ourselves in a position to race the leaders in the closing stages. That’s all you can ask for.”

After marching inside the top five, Yeley struggled a little with the setup on the car and faded to 11th. But the finish closed the gap on fourth in the overall standings. Yeley is now just 82 points out of fourth and remains fifth overall.

The Vigoro / Home Depot team will enjoy a week off before tackling the track in Charlotte on Friday, October 13th. The race will be televised live on TNT at 8:00 PM EST.
