Blown Tire Blows Stellar Run at Jennerstown for Howard


HUNTERSVILLE, NC (September 26, 2005) Woody Howard and the #55 Dean Motorsports team qualified third for the USAR Hooters ProCup BF Goodrich 250 at Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, PA with a time of 18.834 sec. and 99.777 mph. At the drop of the green flag, Woody took second place and by lap 27 he was able to take the lead from the #66 Northern Division Champ, Benny Gordon.

He continued with a 1.5 sec. lead over second place Faulk. After the pit stop by the leaders on lap 82, Woody lost two spots but by lap 150 he was back up to 2nd and charging the #32 of Mark McFarland when McFarland blew a tire.

Woody assumed the lead on lap 166 and by lap 206, led the field by 5.49 sec. His stellar run came to an abrupt end when he blew a right front tire on turn 4 of lap 209.

He ended his day in 17th place and fell from 6th to 9th in points for the first race in the Championship series. He led 105 laps and won the Blast from the Pack Award for the event. "We clearly had the car to beat tonight. We hope to have another strong run at Mansfield only this time with the win." Woody Howard.
