Almirola Finishes 6th at Kenly National Speedway

KENLY, NC – Joe Gibbs Racing diversity driver, Aric Almirola, was hoping to follow up on his last two wins in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at this weekend’s race at Kenly National Speedway. Almirola and his No. 92 Reggie White/Joe Gibbs Racing team have been building momentum, scoring two wins in a row, at Caraway Speedway and Concord Motorsports Park.

But even with a solid effort, the No. 92 Home Depot team did not keep the streak alive and make it three wins in a row. Upon qualifying, Almirola started the 100-lap event in 7th place.

As the green flag dropped, Almirola began his charge to the front. He managed to run as high as fourth place before beginning to battle the “loose” condition of the car. On lap 78, another car made contact with the back of the No. 92 Home Depot Chevrolet, which caused him to spin. Almirola was able to avoid any damage during the spin that brought out the caution flag.

When green flag waved again, it was lap 80, and Almirola attempted to line up in 10th position as he once again began his charge to the front. As the 100-lap event came to a close, Almirola managed to bring the No. 92 Home Depot Chevrolet home for an admirable finish as he crossed the finish line in sixth place.
